NTF Badly Drawn Horse Notes: 28th June – 4th July

Job done for INDALO on Saturday… he was one of two horses I posted here on the FREE NTF Blog from the full NTF Royal Ascot BDH Notes Guide, and he landed the valuable Coral Challenge Handicap over a mile on Eclipse Day at Sandown…

And to keep that form thread rolling here on the blog, I’ve decided to highlight one of the beaten horses from INDALO’s Saturday race as the latest BDH for your notebook…

Before I get to that…

This Saturday coming (11-07-26) offers up an absolute feast of races to tuck into, with the main action coming from the following three tracks…

⭕ Newmarket

⭕ York

⭕ Ascot

All three of those meetings providing a selection of races that work brilliantly for my NTF Race Trends analysis methods… with the following four races being covered by me for full NTF Members…

 1:55 Ascot – Club 26 Heritage Handicap

 3:45 York – John Smith’s Cup Handicap

4:00 York – Bunbury Cup Handicap

 4:35 York – Group 1 July Cup

…and YOU can also gain access to that in-depth and stat-packed analysis guide by hooking up on the…

 NTF SUPER SATURDAY TICKET>>>

It’s always a great weekend to get proper stuck into the Race Trends side of things and it’s one of the best day’s racing out with the major festivals… hence the moniker ‘Super Saturday’…

I can’t wait to get properly stuck into the analysis…

Before that feast of racing hits us… here’s the latest Badly Drawn Horse for your notebook…

BADLY DRAWN HORSE

📅 4th July – Sandown

⭕ 2:25 – Class 2 Handicap over 1m (14 runners)

🏇

🔀 POPMASTER (E Walker)

🏇

Finished 4th | Drawn in stall 10 (once N/Rs taken into account)

📝 Sandown Handicaps over 1m on Good or quicker ground and field sizes of 12-15 are extremely difficult races to win for horses drawn in stalls 9+ (once N/R’s accounted for)… Since 2012 there have been 44 races that met those conditions and only 5 (11% of races) have been won by a horse drawn in stall 9+, which equates to a 2% S/R and 75% below expectation… those drawn 10+ return even worse stats, with only TWO of the 44 races being won by a horse drawn 10+ (1% S/R and 87% below exp)…

Breaking from stall 10 and finishing a 2.1L 4th (only just failing to snatch 3rd) was a serious effort from Ed Walker’s 8yo… he was also the first home of those that were held up out the back, and there was plenty to like about this performance…

He’s actually shown a consistent level of form on most of his runs this season, which again is noteworthy as he’s a horse that tends to really peak from July through to November, with 6 of his 7 career wins coming in those months…

His handicap ceiling isn’t all that easy to pinpoint, but given he’s placed (in handicaps) off marks as high as 100 & 106 I think it’s fair to assume his current mark of around 97 is well within range for him…

I have loose Prime Conditions for him as…

PC = OR 100 or less | July-Nov | Fields of <18 = 6/15, 4p – 6 of 7 career wins
