Short and sweet here on the blog from me today… I’m deep in Epsom analysis for the weekend…

BADLY DRAWN HORSE
30th May – Chester
3:30 – Class 2 Handicap over 7f (11 runners)
BOBBY BENNU (R Varian)
Finished 4th | Drawn in stall 12 (Q4 of draw – widest stall of all)
Q4 in Chester 7f Hcps of 9-13 runners are generally at a disadvantage (5% S/R – 24% below exp) whilst those drawn in Q1 hold an early advantage from their low draw (13% S/R)… stalls 1, 2 & 3 filled 3 of the first 5 places in this…
Roger Varian’s 5yo, unsurprisingly, was doing all his best work late in the day here… sitting in rear in the early part of the contest before staying on inside the final furlong without ever looking like he was going to lay down a challenge for the win…
Probably wasn’t only the draw that was against him here, however, as this was also his seasonal debut, and he now holds form off breaks of >30-days of… 0/8, 4p… compared to form off breaks of 30-days or less of… 3/6…
He’s well handicapped on his best form at present… running here off OR 93, 1lb below his highest winning mark of OR 94… and he’s worth looking out for under his PC of…
PC = OR 94 or less | DSLR 30 or less = 111 (3/3 – all 3 career wins)
