NTF Badly Drawn Horse Notes

NTF Badly Drawn Horse Notes: 17th – 23rd May

As Pink Floyd famously sang…

🎶 All in all, it’s just another hole in the track…

If you don’t fix that hole, you can’t have any racing

How can you have any racing if you don’t fix that hole? 🎶

…or something like that…

Are the racetracks just like our roads now… full of bloody potholes?!?

Who knows… answers on a postcard…

Anyway… Haydock on Saturday was the latest ‘can’t race cos we found a hole/the bends are slippy/we’ve had a leatherjackets and nematode infestations (Brighton)/someone farted and the smell is lingering too long (made that one up!)‘…

They did manage to stage some of the races on Saturday at Haydock… thankfully the Group 2 Temple Hill Stakes was one of those races… as not only was that a race I had covered for full NTF Members… it was also the race where the Free Saturday Trainer Angles email had highlighted a horse… that horse being the winner NIGHT RAIDER… who did the business in fine style and backed up the Free Saturday Trainer Angles winner from the previous Saturday… CARAWAY

I plan on sending out a Free Weekend Trainer Angles email every weekend over the Summer months…

…so if you are not already on the FREE NTF list then simply head to the following page…

>>>FREE Weekend Trainer Angles from NTF

…I’m also pulling together a stats packed Epsom Guide to help with your Derby weekend analysis & bets… if you are on the FREE list then that guide will be with you soon… if not… then you know what you need to do…

Now for this week’s Badly Drawn Horse… from Saturday’s Goodwood action…

BADLY DRAWN HORSE

📅 23rd May – Goodwood

⭕ 1:25 – Class 2 Handicap over 7f (17 runners)

🏇

WECHAAD (R Varian)

🏇

Finished 4th | Drawn in stall 15 (Q4 of draw)

Q4 in Goodwood 7f Hcps of 15+ runners generally struggle to land the win (3% S/R – 45% below exp)… the first 3 home here were drawn in stalls 2, 5 & 3 and 5 of the first 6 home were drawn in stalls 9 or lower…

Roger Varian’s 3yo was on the back foot from the off in this from his stall 15 draw, and he had to sit and suffer out the back in the early stages as Ray Dawson tried his best to slot him in from out wide… he then had to switch out to the centre of the track to make his move in the home-straight whilst also having to pick his ways through the gaps as they appeared, and horse and jockey both deserve plenty credit for getting as close as they eventually did at the line (6.3L 4th of 17)…

The Oasis Dream colt was making seasonal debut here and he should come on for this first outing of his 3yo season (he was a tad free in the early stages)… and there was more than enough in the run to suggest his mark of OR 96 is well within range for him…
