NTF Badly Drawn Horse Notes: 31st May – 6th June

Epsom Derby weekend is done and dusted and in the form book for another year… but no time to sit back and put the feet up because Royal Ascot 2026 is just about to smash into the picture!

So another short ‘n’ sweet post from me here on the blog… as I’m now busy pulling together all the necessary threads to make the Royal Ascot analysis run smooth and hassle free…

Here is this week’s Badly Drawn Horse for your notebook… taken from last Friday’s Thirsk action…

BADLY DRAWN HORSE

 5th June – Thirsk

2:50 – Class 6 Handicap over 5f (12 runners)

WITHOUT FLAW (Miss T Jackson)

Finished 4th | Drawn in stall 1 (Bottom half of draw)

This race was dominated by those drawn in the top-half of the draw/top third of the draw, with the first 3 home drawn in stalls 9, 8 & 11…

The mare was drawn lowest of all in Stall 1, and she could just never fully get into a position to challenge the better drawn horse that were racing closer to the centre of the track…

She had the rest of the field covered as they crossed the line and jockey Joanna Mason wasn’t hard on the mare once she realised she wasn’t getting to the 3 ahead of her…

The 5yo is currently on a winnable mark (ran here off OR 58) and she tends to be at her absolute peak in July, with all 3 of her wins coming in that month, although she does have placed efforts out with July and I don’t think she only needs to be considered during that month (for all it’s definitely an added positive when she does rock up in July and her form does seem to dip once we reach into August and beyond)…

I have Prime Conditions for her as…

PC = OR 60 or less | C6 Hcps on a straight Turf track | Fields of <12 | May-July = 113221 (3/6, 3p – all 3 career wins)
