The 2012 NTF Xmas Quiz!

Ho Ho Ho racing fans! It’s that time of year again folks! The time for you all to get your thinking caps on in order to win some free bets courtesy of the good ship NTF (well Stan James really but you know what I mean!).

That’s right it’s time for the third annual NTF XMAS QUIZ!

It’s important to keep those brain cells ticking and buzzing away in these sub-zero temps (or in this weather it’s important to not let your brain stagnate and get waterlogged!!). The racing takes a mini-break from now until Boxing day to allow the jockeys to get some Xmas shopping done and enjoy the festivities (1 mince pie each please, no more!). So while they are out trudging round the shops you need to get your brains in gear and get stuck into the 13 posers I have set for you.

The winner of the quiz (drawn at random) will receive a free £20 bet from the good people at STAN JAMES with the runner-up (also drawn at random) receiving a free £10 bet. The good news is this is open to new AND existing customers of STAN JAMES so there really is no reason not to try your hand at the quiz. If you crack the NTF Quiz you could be in-line for a very handy post Xmas bonus.

The quiz rules are easy (and exactly the same as the past 2 years quizzes for those of you that took part). I have set out 13 ‘cryptic questions’ below and all you need to do is answer them. Then from each answer you need to collect a letter (you will be told which letter) so at the end you will have 13 letters. From those 13 letters you then need to use your anagram skills to spell out a name. The name you need to use your letters to spell out is 1 of the following –

  • A famous racehorse
  • A famous trainer
  • A famous Jockey

To make it slightly harder I’m not telling you what one it is!!

Once you have your answer you then need to email me at ben@narrowing-the-field.co.uk with the subject header reading – NTF Xmas Quiz. In the email itself I need you to give me all 13 answers as well as the 13 letter name that you think is the answer. Simple!

I’ll give you a couple of example questions from the past 2 quizzes –

Q1 – How you might describe Chris Hoy when he isn’t very happy? (2nd letter of answer)

A1 – PEDDLERS CROSS (you would have taken the letter E from this answer)

Q2 – If you don’t have one of these when you pee then you should probably go and see the doctor! (Clue: Has won a Hennessy) (1st letter of answer)

A2 – STRONG FLOW (you would have taken the letter S from this answer)

If you want a full example then here is the link to last years quiz – NTF Xmas quiz 2011

OK with that? All clear? Excellent! Then lets begin the quiz proper.

p.s. All 13 answers are National Hunt racehorses that are currently in training.
